The Spirit Rising is a whisper-ship[2] in service to the Church of the Galactic Spirit and the Foundation. Crewed by High Claric Poly Verisof and Novice Claric Brother Constant, the Spirit Rising is used to transport them to planets to preach the word of Seldon.[1] Like all whisper-ships, the vessel is equipped with a jumpdrive that does not require a Spacer to operate, and allegedly uses organic computing.[2] The crew utilises sleep patches to sedate them during fold-space travel.[1]
History[]
By 12,240 Era Imperial, the Church of the Galactic Spirit were using the Spirit Rising to preach their message under the command of Poly Verisof and Brother Constant. The pair were on Siwenna when they received news that the Vault had opened to announce the impending Second Crisis. The Spirit Rising returned her crew to Terminus City to hear the words of Hari Seldon. However, the Vault required the procurement of Hober Mallow.[1] As such, the Spirit and her crew set out to find him on Korell. On Korell, after stealing the Eye of Korell, Hober Mallow attempted to steal the Spirit Rising, but Poly Verisof and Brother Constant quickly retook it, forcibly bringing him back to Terminus.[4] After visiting Seldon within the Vault on Terminus, Hober Mallow was instructed to take the Spirit Rising on a secret mission.[2] Taking the Spirit to the coordinates that Dr. Seldon had indicated, Hober Mallow encountered the Spacers and their huge vessel, the Home-Swarm.[3]
