Skirlet is a recurring character in Season Three of the Apple TV+ streaming series Foundation. She is the daughter of Archduke Bellarion, taken prisoner by the Mule. Skirlet is portrayed by Isla Gie, first appearing in the episode "Shadows in the Math".
Biography[]
Skirlet is the daughter of Archduke Bellarion, ruler of Kalgan. Her name is Kalganese, and means "little bread roll."[1] Skirlet was abducted by the Mule with the intention of ransoming her back to her father in exchange for control of Kalgan. When Bellarion refused this, the Mule used his powers to take control of the planet.[2] The Mule brought Skirlet under his influence, and she came to love the Mule. At a gathering of Bellarion's household staff, the Mule explained that he could change people's affections and coerce them into doing things, but it was taxing. However, he had found he did not have to convert everyone, and sometimes a display of his power was enough to convert others. Skirlet was used in a demonstration, with the Mule giving her Bellarion's gun and telling her to put it to her head and shoot. The young girl did, wanting to please the Mule more than anything. The gun did not fire, but the effect of the demonstration was clear to the assembled staff.[1]
Skirlet joined the Mule at the party he threw for the elite of Kalgan to celebrate his conquest of Kalgan. He handed the Mule a peeler that he used to flay part of the skin off of Toran Mallow's hand.[3]
