Siwenna is a planet in the Outer Reach. A backwater world abandoned by the Galactic Empire, Siwenna was targeted by the Church of the Galactic Spirit for conversion to their beliefs and to draw them into the Foundation.
General Information[]
Siwenna is an arid planet in the Arcturus Sector[2] of the Outer Reach.[1] By Imperial standards it was Type Zero civilization with a largely agrarian society.[3] Siwenna did not have any towns or cities, and settlements on the planets were small villages ruled by a hetman. While distrustful of off-worlders, the Siwennese were not a tribal people.[2] The world had no satellite array and no way of detecting starships in orbit.[3]
Siwenna did not maintain a spaceports, and while there was some technology on the planet, it was out-of-date. The Siwennese relied on livestock such as camels and oxen for transport.[2] Needle tea,[3] made from cacti,[2] was a local beverage, and it was considered to be socially irresponsible not to drink it.[3] Tobacco was made from lichen,[2] and at least one local lichen was poisonous, and could kill an individual in a short space of time if smoked.[3]
History[]
Siwenna had been abandoned by the Galactic Empire for a century by 12,240 Era Imperial, leaving the world in poverty. They worshipped a local lightning deity due to the prevalence of lightning storms on the planet.[4] Worshippers of the lightning god wore forked lightning bolt pendants.[2]
When Demerzel reported to Cleon XVII that there were rumors of an alliance building in the Outer Reach led by the Foundation, Siwenna was one of the planets included in her report.[1] The planet had been targeted by the Church of the Galactic Spirit due to the Empire's abandonment of the world for conversion to the Foundation.[2]
