The Ship-and-Sun Armada,[1] formerly known as the Superluminal Armada ,[2] Superluminal Fleet, or Imperial Fleet, was the naval military arm of the Galactic Empire. At its height, the fleet was composed of three thousand, two hundred vessels of varying size and classifications including fighter and commercial classes. All ships of the Superluminal Armada are capable of faster-than-light travel.[3]
The Rubicon was the Imperial flagship reserved for exclusive use by the Genetic Dynasty, while the Shining Destiny served as the flagship of the Superluminal Armada as a whole. Other vessels of the Superluminal Armada include Trireme-class ships such as the Aegis.[3]
By 12,392 Era Imperial, the armada was reliant on jump gates to travel across vast distances quickly due to the Empire losing control of the spacers. Because of this, the fleet became known as the Ship-and-Sun Armada as the ships had lost the ability to jump themselves.[1]
