The Mural of Souls is a large piece of artwork present in the Imperial Palace.[1] The history of the Galactic Empire is recorded on the Mural of Souls,[2] and also depicts the four-century reign of peace by the Genetic Dynasty.[1] Events recorded on the Mural include the Robot Wars, the Golden Horse Rebellion, and the destruction of the Star Bridge.[2]

The Mural was created with active chroma, a material that caused the pigment to subtly move.[1] The chroma was sourced from the Cloud Dominion and activated by proximity.[2] As part of his duties, Brother Dusk, as the eldest member of the family, worked on the Mural on a daily basis. The Mural was so large that Master Orlio had only cleaned it completely four times over his sixty-eight years of service to Empire. When the delegations of Anacreon and Thespis arrived on Trantor, Demerzel showed them the Mural of Souls.[1]

A green graven stripe is added on a neck of a person, considered to be a betrayer. A representation of the pre-Cleonic Emperor Algren was altered to include a green mark on the neck to signify his crimes, as well as a picture of a dissected robot.[3]

Beneath the picture of Emperor Benefoss, there is a picture of eight planets (Mercury, Venus, Earth, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune), the same planets painted on Demerzel´s tool chest.[4]
