Biography[]

Loron is a Mentalic, and fear of his abilities led him to be burned at some point. Eventually, he answered Tellem Bond's telepathic call and found her refuge community on the planet Ignis. When the Beggar's Lament arrived on the planet, Loron used his abilities to appear as Hugo Crast, the lover of one of the crew, Salvor Hardin. Reading her mind, he concocted a plausible story to explain his presence over a hundred years since their previous meeting and attempted to use her to gain entry into the ship. One of the other occupants, Hari Seldon, saw through the ruse but that did not stop them being captured alongside Gaal Dornick.[1]

Tellem Bond received Hari, Gaal, and Salvor and during the meeting, Loron kept reading their minds for information on the Prime Radiant. After they left, he presented a drawing of it to Tellem; she informed Loron that she intended to find it and break it, and thus prevent the Second Foundation from forming.[1] As part of Tellem's plan to secure the Prime Radiant, she had Loron pose as Hari and fly the Beggar's Lament away so they could continue their search in private. The ruse was also to disguise the fact that Tellem had taken Hari prisoner.[2]

Loron talks with Salvor on the beach, apologising for his actions during his masquerade as Hugo. He introduces Salvor to the local delicacy of ghost mollusks, and notes that Tellem is excited they are on Ignis. Salvor believes that Tellem is excited Gaal is there. As they talk, Loron notices a boat arrive on the shore, and sees that Salvor has also taken an interest in it. To distract her, Loron escorts her to the feast that Tellem has planned for them.[3]
