Ducem Barr is a recurring character in the Apple TV+ series, Foundation. He is a resident of Siwenna. Barr is portrayed by Jesper Christensen, first appearing in "A Glimpse of Darkness."
Biography[]
Patrician Ducem Barr was a vintner living on the planet Siwenna. After the Galactic Empire ceded the Outer Reach and abandoned Siwenna, Barr kept sending tight-beam dispatches to the Empire with reports. However, no one answered for forty years. Bar was a collector of old books.[1]
In 12,240 Era Imperial, Ducem Barr was part of the crowd to witness a show put on by the Church of the Galactic Spirit on Siwenna, where they extolled the virtues of Hari Seldon and how the Foundation could help now that Empire had abandoned them. Barr triggered a recording device in his left eye to record the performance.[2]
Shortly after, Barr was visited by two Imperial officers, Bel Riose and Glawen Curr. His reports had finally gotten a response, and he filled the two officers in on the Church of the Galactic Spirit, and their possession of auras and jump-capable whisper-ships. Their meeting was interrupted by the arrival of Hetman and a band of local constabulary who demanded Barr hand over the two officers. Barr showed Riose and Glawen to a secret passage, then requested Riose shoot him to avoid torture at the hands of Hetman and his allies. Barr had already poisoned himself by smoking a local lichen, but considered a particle beam to be more dignified. Riose complied with his request.[1]
