Aegis was a Trireme-class ship, an Imperial military jumpship commanded by Kray Dorwin. The ship was assigned to travel to the planet Terminus to investigate the loss of a communications buoy in the Outer Reach, and a lack of communication with the Foundation. Arriving at the planet, Dorwin found the Anacreons attacking Terminus City. In an attempt to render assistance to the Foundation, Dorwin ordered the Aegis into the atmosphere to be positioned over the settlement.[1]
The Anacreons were prepared for Aegis, and had intentionally destroyed the communications buoy to draw an Imperial ship into a trap. The Aegis was hit with a shot from a flak cannon that had been set-up at the edge of Terminus City and hidden under spectral cloaking.[1]
